FAQs

Getting Started / First-Time Clients

  • Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if this is your first time or if you’re used to managing things on your own. Your first session is an opportunity to begin building a supportive and trusting relationship with your therapist.

Every client is unique, so first sessions may look slightly different. Generally, your therapist will spend time getting to know you—what brings you to therapy, what feels difficult right now, and what you may be hoping for from the process. There is no pressure to share everything immediately, and the conversation unfolds at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

Our work is grounded in a relational and attachment-focused approach to therapy, which means we pay attention not only to your current concerns, but also to the emotional patterns, relationships, and experiences that may shape how you move through the world. Depending on the therapist and your needs, sessions may also incorporate greater awareness of the mind-body connection and present-moment emotional experience.

Many clients find that simply having space to slow down, reflect, and feel genuinely listened to can be meaningful in itself. Over time, therapy can become a place to better understand yourself, strengthen relationships, and move through life with greater clarity and connection.

  • People begin therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear source of distress—such as anxiety, relationship difficulties, loss, or life transitions—and other times there may simply be a growing sense that something feels overwhelming, stuck, disconnected, or difficult to navigate alone.

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek therapy because they want a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape how they move through the world.

Our work is grounded in a relational and attachment-focused approach, which means therapy is not only about reducing symptoms, but also about creating space to reflect, build awareness, strengthen emotional connections, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Even an initial consultation can help you get a sense of whether therapy—and a particular therapist—feels like the right fit for you.

  • If this is your first time in therapy, you are not alone. Many people begin therapy feeling nervous, uncertain, or unsure of what to expect. Starting something new—especially something that involves opening up emotionally—can feel vulnerable.

Our therapists aim to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you can move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no “right way” to begin therapy, and you do not need to have everything figured out before starting.

In our work together, we pay attention not only to your thoughts and emotions, but also to the ways stress, relationships, and past experiences may show up in your day-to-day life and present-moment experience. Over time, therapy can become a space for greater self-understanding, emotional connection, and meaningful change.

Types of Therapy Offered

  • Our individual therapy work is grounded in a relational, attachment-focused approach that supports deeper self-understanding, emotional awareness, and meaningful change over time.

In therapy, we explore the patterns, experiences, and relationships that may be shaping how you relate to yourself and others today. Depending on your needs and the therapist you work with, sessions may also incorporate greater awareness of the mind-body connection and present-moment emotional experience.

Therapy is collaborative and tailored to each individual. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, perfectionism, life transitions, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed or disconnected, we aim to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and able to explore your experience with greater clarity and compassion.

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs, providing a safe space to reflect, process, and strengthen resilience. Clients leave with tools and insights that integrate both mind and body.

  • Yes. We offer couples and marriage therapy both in person in New York City (Manhattan and Brooklyn) and virtually.

Couples often begin therapy when they feel caught in painful or repetitive patterns, disconnected from one another, struggling to communicate, or navigating periods of stress, transition, or emotional distance. In our work together, we focus on understanding the relational and attachment dynamics that shape how partners experience and respond to one another.

Therapy is collaborative and tailored to the unique needs of each relationship. Our goal is to create a space where both partners feel heard, supported, and better able to strengthen connection, communication, and understanding over time.

  • Yes. Group therapy can offer a unique space for connection, reflection, and growth alongside others who may be navigating similar experiences. Many people are initially unsure about whether group therapy is right for them, especially if the idea of sharing in a group setting feels unfamiliar or vulnerable.

Our groups are therapist-led and grounded in a supportive therapeutic environment where members can explore relational patterns, gain insight, and feel less alone in their experiences. Over time, group therapy can become a meaningful space for self-awareness, connection, and emotional support.

If you’re curious but unsure where to begin, we’re happy to help you determine whether a particular group may feel like a good fit for you.

If a group is currently full or not yet listed, feel free to reach out and let us know what you’re looking for, as additional groups may become available over time.

Scheduling & Availability

  • You can schedule a consultation through our online form or contact us directly by call or text at (347) 741-9634.

If the therapist you’re hoping to work with is not currently available, you’re welcome to join their waitlist. When an opening becomes available, the therapist will reach out directly.

If you’re looking to begin sooner, we can also help connect you with another provider within the practice or offer referrals to trusted clinicians or groups when appropriate.

Our goal is to help you get started in a way that feels supportive, timely, and aligned with your needs.

  • Finding a therapist who feels like a good fit can take time, so it can understandably feel disappointing when someone you connected with is not currently available.

If a therapist’s bio resonates with you but they do not have consultation openings, you’re welcome to contact us to join their waitlist. If availability opens, the therapist will reach out directly.

If you’d prefer to begin sooner, we can also help connect you with another clinician within the practice whose approach may feel similarly aligned, or provide referrals to trusted colleagues outside the practice when appropriate.

Our goal is to help make the process feel as supportive and thoughtful as possible, even when availability is limited. You can take a look at our team by clicking here.

  • Finding the right therapeutic fit can take time, and it’s okay if it doesn’t feel immediately clear. Beyond credentials or experience, therapy is also about the relationship itself—whether you feel safe enough to be honest, understood in your experience, and supported in a way that feels meaningful to you.

Sometimes that sense of connection develops gradually, and sometimes something may simply not feel right. Both are important to pay attention to. If you ever feel uncertain, we encourage you to bring that into the therapy process. Talking openly about the relationship can often become a meaningful part of the work itself.

Logistics / Session Details

  • Yes. We offer both virtual therapy sessions through a secure HIPAA-compliant platform and in-person sessions at our New York City locations in Midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Our Manhattan office is located at 380 Lexington Avenue, in Midtown, and is easily accessible via multiple subway and commuter rail lines.

Our Brooklyn office is located at 124 9th Street, between Carroll Gardens and Park Slope, and is also accessible by several subway and bus routes.

Many clients choose based on what feels most supportive for their schedule, comfort level, and the type of connection they prefer in therapy. Both formats offer the same level of care and therapeutic depth.

  • Individual and couples sessions typically last 50–60 minutes, while group therapy sessions usually last 60–90 minutes.

Therapy is most often scheduled on a weekly basis, especially at the beginning, as this consistency helps support the development of trust, continuity, and deeper therapeutic work.

Over time, the frequency of sessions may shift depending on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive in your process. Some people continue weekly work, while others move to less frequent sessions as therapy progresses.

  • Session fees vary depending on the type of therapy and the provider you work with:

    • Licensed therapists: $225–$250 per session

    • Pre-licensed therapists (working toward licensure): $125–$150 per session

    • Group therapy sessions: $60–$90 per session

Some clinicians also offer sliding-scale options to support accessibility when possible.

We are in-network with Aetna and Meritain Health. For other insurance plans, we are considered out-of-network and provide superbills that you can submit for potential reimbursement.

For clients with GHI or Carelon Behavioral Health insurance, we can also submit out-of-network claims directly on your behalf to help simplify the process.

If you have questions about fees, coverage, or which provider may be the right fit for your needs, we’re happy to help guide you through next steps.
